Living your life with Chronic Illness
Navigating life with a new, or existing, chronic illness can be tough. For those without these conditions, fully understanding the depth at which they affect us is difficult to comprehend, let alone if they’re complex and interwoven.
Fortunately, with our in-house Clinical Psychologist, Dr. Alice Kennedy, here at Mind, Body and Spoons we do ‘get it’. Alice’s private psychological practice supports those seeking support with their mental health. Living with an energy-limiting illness hampers our ability to engage with the world and can lead to huge losses in identity, relationships and work. It can also mean living with the constant threat of a flare up. This can lead to secondary anxiety or low mood and and often a re-evaluation of life and how to live a valued life alongside chronic illness.
Here at Mind, Body and Spoons, Alice is involved with sharing positive advice and ideas to increase our understanding of how chronic illness effects our day-to-day lives, and providing help to incorporate these upbuilding approaches into our lives.

MBaS and Alice will be sharing mindfulness practices, mental health help, and how Alice can help you navigate your journey with chronic illness and rebuild a meaningful and joyful life.
Mind Body and Spoons will also be offering online and in-person Creative Writing and/or Narrative Therapy workshops with our resident writer, Kit, to help you express yourself through the written word.
Alice is well-versed in living with chronic illness, and speaks about her lived experience in this book (released autumn 2026). It’s a thought-provoking and insightful book with insights from a variety of psychologists who live with chronic illnesses/disabilities. You can pre-order it by following this link.
