Dishing up with Mind Body and Spoons:
– where we take on supporting your chronic illness journey one spoonful at a time.
Life with a Chronic Illness takes time, or spoons, to navigate and achieve what others take for granted every, single, day. It’s wearing on mental and physical health. We can feel isolated, invisible, or that we downright don’t exist. Yet, we do. Somehow, despite everything, we must navigate daily chores, work, and our routines to try and live productive and fulfilling lives.
Behind Mind Body and Spoons:
That’s where the Mind Body and Spoons website together with TheChronicIllnessPyschologist and TheChronicIllnessChef come together to help you do this. Mind Body and Spoons is here for those wanting to nurture and nourish themselves. To form an attitude of acceptance towards their new diet/s, and support mental health and healing along their illness journey.
From time to time Mind Body and Spoons will publish articles written by either Dr Alice or Chef Kit, or by guest contributors all of whom have significant lived-experience. These contributors offer a range of insights into ways in-which to improve your energy management, or your quality of life whilst living with your condition.
What do we mean by “Chronic Illness”? Well, whilst there are many chronic illnesses and unexplained medical conditions that have a significant negative effect on people, this site is aimed towards anyone suffering with a lack of energy (common to most chronic illnesses), and to those who struggle to cook nutritious and tasty meals, or who’ve had to forego favourite treats from a time before being chronically ill.
The most widely recognised chronic illnesses currently includes, but certainly not limited to; Myalgic Encephalomyelitis (ME) or as it’s commonly known Chronic Fatigue Syndrome (CFS), Fibromyalgia (FMS), Mast Cell Activation Syndrome (MCAS) or Histamine Intolerance, and Long Covid.
